Ants in the wormery
There are so many ants in Lisa’s wormery, more so than any other time… so we did a bit of reading up… Ants can be an indication that the wormery is too dry and we have noticed recently that that’s been the case – so we’ve sprinkled it with collected rainwater. Another tip was a sprinkling of cinnamon, so we’ve tried that too. We couldn’t see a queen, though she must be there somewhere – if we do find her we need to get her out!

We received our worms from Wiggly Wigglers yesterday… they arrived looking very happy and surprisingly perky… or should that be wiggly?! As it was such a lovely sunny evening we took them up to their new home… We have high hopes for the worms and for their task ahead having bought worms from Wiggly Wigglers once before… we’ve never had to replace them in Lisa’s wormery which is quite a few years old now, so we’re sure they’ll do well in the compost bins on the allotment. The new Wiggly Wigglers catalogue arrived today… it’s great to see how much they can fit into a little catalogue (well, quite a big catalogue actually!). They have a very good website with loads of info, plus blog and a very popular podcast. Lisa’s wormeries both came from Wigglers – starting with a bog standard wormery, which has since become a water-butt, before moving to the fabulous Can-o-Worms which is so easy to look after and maintain.
