Alongside the weeds(!), the courgettes and squash are coming along brilliantly too We knew there would be loads, but we are going to be looking like a squash once we’ve eaten them all!! On the plus side, it’s good to have some veg to harvest rather than a constant run of weeds!

Today we planted nine sweetcorn plants given to us by our allotment neighbour yesterday… they’re best in a square so that they pollinate, so we dug over a weedy patch to fit them in. We sowed some seeds this evening – we were given a pack of ‘Summer Squashes’ (a collection of squashes and courgettes) by a friend, so we have: ‘Black Beauty’ ‘Golden Zucchini’ ‘Lebanese’ ‘De Nice a Rond Fruit’ ‘Patty Pan’ ‘Yellow Scallop’ We’re not renowned for our success with seeds so fingers crossed!!
