Lazy Girls Make an Effort

Yes, we’re lazy, we know it! But today we went up to the plot to clear LOADS of weeds…
We had breakfast – lots of raspberries, straight from the canes – delicious! Shop-bought berries really pale in comparison.
Potatoes are looking healthy, plenty of time to go before we dig them up though.
And we planted a [...]

Dodging the Rain

The weather wasn’t so kind today, but we managed to dodge the rain to get two rows of potatoes in (King Edwards) and a lot more weeding done.
We also harvested three sticks of rhubarb and a test onion! Oh, and some sage… it is going mad so need to find a good way to [...]

Unearthing old seeds

Ok, not quite unearthing, but deep in the back of the cupboard we found some old seeds… no idea whether they’re any good, but thought it was worth a bash!

Garlic is fab – the entire row has sprouted So glad we properly weeded that section as the leaves look a lot like grass! It’s not grass, honest!
Raspberries are doing well too – leaves are looking really healthy so far [...]

A pound of potatoes

Dug up a pound of potatoes this evening… not to mention two slugs and a load of funny-looking brown bugs that were in a couple of them!
Very tasty indeed – boiled them and mixed them up with some olive oil, black pepper and allotment thyme and sage
It was only a short row, but [...]

Potatoes are coming along

As you know we’re rather lazy(!), so it was great to see that over month after planting the potatoes are looking pretty good!!
Not all have come through – grass and weeds are encroaching – but most are looking like this one
Well… at least we think this is good?! They look healthy anyway and [...]
