We had our first two onions from the allotment this weekend… they were strong enough to make a grown man cry

Everything is coming along very well! We’ve started to stake the ‘Cobra’ beans as they started to trail along the ground, unfortunately only two of the plants made it, but they’re looking strong and have started to flower. Talking of flowers, the courgette flowers are fabulous! And it’s so exciting to see four baby courgettes [...]

Now that we’ve cleared most of the weeds we can see our onions coming along very nicely!! Some are larger than others, but all are looking very good! The sweetcorn is also looking great and we can see where the cob (is ‘cob’ the right word?!) is starting to form on most of the plants. [...]

We’ve been rather neglectful of our plot over the last couple of weeks and we’ve been fair-weather gardeners while the heavy rain has been pouring down. Today was the day to tackle the triffids! We made a good start, but there are weeds everywhere… including some massive alliums growing out of our stinky bin bags!! [...]

First planting session today – our lovely allotment is starting to take shape!!! Lisa came up with a very unusual way of creating paths between the rows through the development of the ‘wiggle walk’. We’re back from Barbados, but sadly no trip to the allotment due to all the rain. We have decided what we’ll be growing though!
